The verification of comms ports is important for two reasons. Firstly, as you’re likely to have bought and embedded some opensource comms protocols IP, you should really verify that it functions correctly when integrated with the rest of your system. Secondly, many cyber-attacks are made through comms ports, so you should verify that your design handles unexpected communications correctly.
