Zephyr is an open-source real-time operating system (RTOS) designed for embedded devices. Hosted by the Linux Foundation in its IoT and embedded technology sector, Zephyr offers a scalable and optimised RTOS with support for Ethernet and Bluetooth connectivity.
Zephyr includes a kernel and all the essential components like device drivers, protocol stacks, file systems, and firmware update tools, allowing you to develop complete application software. It gives you the flexibility to customise applications for the resource limits of embedded systems, meet the timing needs of real-time tasks, and scale easily across various hardware platforms.
We take a careful and strategic approach to our implementation process from the outset. We consider key factors such as the product’s environmental requirements, anticipated operating conditions, and whether power optimisation should be a priority. Additionally, we assess potential challenges and decide if performance research is needed before moving forward.
Our team specialises in debugging these platforms using in-place tools, enabling us to quickly identify and resolve issues during development. We also have extensive experience working with Zephyr’s built in logging system with clients to assess when their integration is necessary.
Don’t take our word for it, these are kind words from our customers
Our development team specialises in leveraging advanced technologies like AIDL, Das U-Boot and custom driver integration, to design and deliver customised systems tailored to meet the unique needs of clients across diverse markets.
While embedded C and C++ are our primary programming languages for these systems, we are also adept at integrating runtimes for other languages, such as AIDL and devicetree, ensuring flexibility and adaptability based on your specific requirements.

Bermondsey Electronics Limited is a leading provider of embedded firmware design, specialising in embedded development, design verification, and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing. Serving industries such as aerospace, automotive, security, and fitness and leisure, we simplify product launches and reduce risks. Through comprehensive functional verification, Bermondsey Electronics ensures clients can confidently bring their products to market, fully validated for performance and reliability.
In addition to Zephyr, we have expertise in working with a range of operating systems, including Android, Linux, FreeRTOS and ThreadX.
Zephyr is an open-source project led by the Linux Foundation, prioritising security and aims to build a strong, collaborative community of contributors. While FreeRTOS, also open-source, was largely developed by Amazon AWS to integrate easily with its cloud services, particularly for IoT applications.
Zephyr is mainly written in C and is designed to natively support applications written in the C language. Its APIs, including all functions and macros, are implemented in C and can be accessed through the header files in the include directory. This makes C the ideal choice for developing Zephyr applications, as it provides access to the full range of features and functionality.
